FAQs
Is alcohol allowed on the boats?
The boat operator is strictly prohibited from consuming alcohol—it’s against the law, violates our rental policy, and significantly increases the risk of accidents.
Passengers must follow all federal, state, and local alcohol laws while on board.
How old do I have to be to rent a boat?
21
What happens if I get into an accident or damage the boat?
Just like renting a car, you are responsible for any damage or accidents that occur during your rental. To protect yourself, you must choose either the insurance policy or the damage waiver.
Are pets or service animals allowed on the boats?
No. This is a SAFETY issue!
What does the rental company provide and what do I need to bring?
All boats come fully equipped with legally required safety gear.
For a great day on the water, be sure to bring sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any food or drinks you'd like to enjoy.
Is smoking allowed on the boat?
No. This is a SAFETY issue!
Are the boats accessible to those with physical or mental disabilities?
While a valid driver’s license is typically required to rent a boat, physical limitations may affect a person’s ability to board safely.
Our boats are not wheelchair accessible and may require large steps up or down when boarding.
Boats naturally move with the water, which can create instability.
If you are unable to board and disembark without assistance, for safety reasons, we do not recommend renting a boat.
If you have concerns about accessibility, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to discuss your options.
What can you do before, during, and after renting a boat?
Looking for more to do before or after your boat rental?
On-site at Four Seasons Marina: Enjoy two bars/restaurants with great food, live music on weekends, and indoor/outdoor dining. There's also a golf driving range and sand volleyball courts.
Nearby Attractions: Just a 15-minute drive from downtown Cincinnati, the marina is close to local craft breweries, Riverbend Music Center, and top museums like The Arc Experience.
On the River: Soak up the summer vibes with a warm breeze and stunning views of downtown Cincinnati. Stop by a riverside restaurant for lunch, anchor in "the shallows" to relax, or simply enjoy the open water.
No matter your style, there's plenty to explore on and off the river!
Can we bring children or babies on the boat?
Children 10 and under are required by law to wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket at all times.
We provide all required adult life jackets and one child-size life jacket per boat.
We do NOT provide infant life jackets. If you need one, you must bring your own.
Any personal life jackets brought on board must be U.S. Coast Guard-approved.
For safety, please ensure children have properly fitting life jackets before your trip.
Do I need boating experience in order to rent a boat?
No prior boating experience? No problem!
We provide training at the start of your rental, covering everything you need to know to operate the boat safely. (This training is conducted during your rental time.)
If you were born on or after January 1, 1982, Ohio law requires you to have a Boater Safety Certification from Ohio or another state.
For extra confidence, we also offer FREE training sessions before your rental. These are available by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays at 8 AM. Contact us to schedule!
Is tubing or skiing available?
No.
What if I get lost out on the river?
Before you depart, we provide training on the designated boating area and give you a detailed river chart (map) to take on board.
If you ever feel lost, simply call our office, and we’ll guide you back to the marina.
Can I see some more of the training information that I will be tested on in advance of renting the boat?
No problem. Check at the link below.
What do the maximum weight limits mean?
For safety reasons, boats must not exceed their maximum weight limits.
While we don’t weigh passengers or cargo at check-in, if it appears your boat may be overloaded, we will explain the risks and reserve the right to cancel your rental if safety is a concern.
All renters and guests must sign a waiver acknowledging their responsibility to adhere to weight limits and other safety guidelines.
Your safety is our priority—please plan accordingly!
FAQs
Do you have supplemental insurance that I can purchase (like renting a car)?
All renters must choose either the supplemental insurance policy or the damage waiver.
The insurance policy provides comprehensive coverage for the boat and liability.
The damage waiver covers up to $1,000 in damages but does not provide full coverage.
We recommend selecting the option that best fits your needs for peace of mind on the water.
How long does it take for my deposit or refund to be returned to me?
Credit card refunds typically take 7 to 10 business days to process. This timeline is determined by your credit card provider, not our rental company.
For more details or to check the status of a refund, please contact your credit card company directly.
What happens if I lose a dock line, fender, life jacket or other equipment?
If any safety equipment is lost during your rental, a standard replacement fee will be charged to your credit card.
For example, losing an anchor would result in a $70 charge. Fees vary depending on the item lost. Insurance or damage waiver don’t cover lost equipment.
What is the difference between the insurance and the damage waiver?
The key difference between the two options:
Supplemental Insurance provides comprehensive coverage, including liability and damages.
Damage Waiver covers up to $1,000 in damages but does not include liability coverage.
Choosing the right option ensures you’re protected while out on the water.
How does supplemental insurance work?
Our company carries insurance for our boats and business, but this does not cover you as the renter. If you cause damage during your rental, you are personally liable. The supplemental insurance protects you in these situations.
The damage waiver covers up to $1,000 in damages.
The most common renter-caused damage happens in shallow water, where hitting the bottom can damage the prop, lower unit, or hull.
For example, replacing a damaged propeller costs around $300, but with the damage waiver, you wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket.
Choosing the right coverage gives you peace of mind while out on the water!
